The Vilonia Academy of Service Learning and Technology (VAST), Vilonia Academy of Technology and Vilonia Primary were all listed at the top of a recent report ranking the performance of schools across Arkansas. More information can be found in the recent article by The Log Cabin Democrat.
The following statements were provided by Brian Ratliff, Principal of VPS and the Vilonia Academy of Technology and Cathy Riggins, Principal of VMS and VAST. Click "Read More" for their statements.
Mr. Ratliff - "The administration, faculty and staff of Vilonia Primary School and the Academy of Technology are so very proud of the efforts and accomplishments of our Academy of Technology students and staff. All of our teachers are to be commended on a job well done in preparing and encouraging our students to give their very best. Knowing that your students gave their very best is one of the greatest rewards a school can receive. Being recognized as one of the top achieving schools in Arkansas is both an honor and a challenge. Now that we have set this as a standard, we must strive to continue to provide strong instructional practices that will give our students the very best chance to continue to meet this standard year after year."
Mrs. Riggins - "The success of the Vilonia Academy of Service-Learning and Technology is a result of hard work and dedication from teachers, students, and parents. Additionally, I believe a major contributor to the success is the instructional methods used in the charter school which focuses on service-learning and technology. Through these methods, students are introduced to Arkansas frameworks as they participate in project based service-learning instruction which correlates to real life application. At the Vilonia Academy of Service-Learning and Technology we will continue to strive for academic growth and development of civic responsibility in our students. We are delighted with our success, but understand we must continue to improve while always making “kid’s the focus.”
